Em Maio de 2007, várias equipas trabalharam em conjunto de modo a descobrirem 28 novos planetas extrasolares!
4 deles estão em sistemas estelares que já tinham planetas anteriormente detectados.

A tenista Jelena Jankovic recebeu como prenda da sua patrocinadora uma estrela com o seu nome (JJ) na constelação Hércules.
Como é óbvio, oficialmente a estrela não tem mesmo o nome dela.
Mas ainda mais interessante na notícia do Record foi perceber que o/a jornalista não sabe distinguir uma estrela duma constelação!

A China colocou em órbita o satélite de detecção remota Yaogan-II, também designado Jian Bing-5 (2). O lançamento teve lugar ás 0812UTC desde Jiuquan e foi levado a cabo por um foguetão CZ-2D Chang Zheng-2D.

Em Maio de 2007, foi encontrado um inferno planetário. Foi encontrado o planeta mais quente. Com cerca de 2000 ºC, este planeta é mais quente do que algumas estrelas! (como comparação temos que no nosso Sistema Solar o planeta mais quente é Vénus, com cerca de 450 ºC) Será talvez o planeta mais negro descoberto até hoje.
